THE CHILDLINE ROCKS GUITAR CHALLENGE
FOUR GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPTS!
October 14th 2012
Ricoh Arena, Coventry,Phoenix Way, Foleshill, Coventry, CV6 6GE
How many lead guitarists does it take to change a light bulb… (one and 14 on the front row saying they could do it better…. ). But how many does it take to break a world record? Or indeed several?
On October 14th at Coventry’s famed Ricoh Arena up to 3000 guitarists of all types, genres and ages will gather together to attempt to break four world records:
- 1. The Largest Electric Guitar Ensemble
- 2. The Largest Music Lesson
- 3. The Largest Air Guitar Ensemble
- 4. The Most Guitar Amplifiers Used Simultaneously
The event is being staged in support of ChildLine the UK’s free, confidential helpline dedicated to children and young people. The fundraising target for the day is £250,000.
In addition to the four Guinness World Record attempts there will be a host of Guest Star appearances throughout the afternoon – details to be announced shortly. A competition for the fastest guitarist in the house will take place and three unsigned bands will kick off the proceedings at 1pm. Doors open at 12pm. The Arena is centrally located in Coventry and is easy to get to with great transport links.
Entry is just £30 which covers admission for the player PLUS a non-playing guest and also contributes to the cost of a Marshall MS2 guitar amp which all players can take homewith them. Participants can register at : http://www.childlinerocks.org.uk

October 14th is a Sunday so perfect for parents and aspiring rock offspring to riff and break a record or three for the very best of causes in the very best of company. What could be better than getting down ‘n’ dirty with peers, stars, family and mates – and all to help ChildLine be there for children and young people when they need someone to turn to. A good cause and a fab day out….Childline Rocks ROCKS!
