Now I’ve had this single for a little whilst now (it came out in July), but unfortuntely my hard copy arrived scratched so I’ve only just got round to tracking the single down (via Youtube) but I have to say I’m seriously glad I eventually got my arse into gear.
Mojo Fury are a Northern Irish based alternative rock quartet who have started to make great waves with recent support slots with the liks of Oceansize among others, as wel as playing every festival going. The band’s recently released debut album,Visiting Hours Of A Travelling Circus has been picking up plaudits from everyone in the mainstream music press from Rock Sound to Kerrang via Artrocker (album of the month no less) and The NME, whilst the likes of Radio One, XFM and Total Rock have been busy spinning choice cuts from the album.
We Should Just Run Away is the third single to be lifted from the album and it’s something of a monster, in the past the band have been compared to the likes of Biffy Clyro and Pulled Apart By Horses but this single is something different, it’s a harder hitting beast with an almost industrial like strut. The single opens with stabbing synths and definite electro tinge before the hard hitting Nine Inch Nails like drums crash into focus and the track develops into a massive alternative rock anthem complete with a hard stomping shout-a-long chorus, whilst the rest of the band crash about and lay down a thick dense groove that reminds me of the critically underrated Stabbing Westward.
Mojo Fury have delivered a stunning single that fans of big, loud, dark alternative rock and hook-laden industrial will fall head over heals for, stunning bombastic stuff by the most exciting new name on the scene.
