The Black Acid Band are something of a new name to me, concurrently the Midlands based four-piece are playing tons of gigs, making new friends, writing new material, recording and preparing an all assault on the local music scene. On the evidence of the two tracks on here, we’re about to be left tired, beaten, bruised and completely satisfied.
The band play frantic, aggressive garage punk fuelled with spit, swagger and attitude, think The Stooges throttling the shit out of The Strokes, whilst The Hives watch from the sidelines and you’re somewhere in the right vicinity of The Black Acid Band’s sound.
Wunji The Destroyer is a sub minute and a half of pure spiky angular fun, pounding beats, bludgeoning riffs and a half sung, half bellowed vocal clash deliciously to create a contagious and somewhat feral mix that begs to be repeated over and over again. Spanner And Ratchet adds an addictive bass groove to an already potent sound, forcing the listening to their feet and demanding you to create all new shapes on the dancefloor.
The Black Acid Band could be the must see band of 2010, they’re loud, energetic, chaotic and fun. If you like you’re music bold and in you’re face I suggest you seek out The black Acid Band out now.
